Biography: Born in Istanbul in 1967, Taner Yigit graduated from Robert College High School in 1986. Dr. Yigit earned his B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Bogazici University in 1990. Having completed his M.A. in Economics again at Bogazici University, he obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999. Between 1999 and 2002, he worked as an assistant professor at the Economics Departments of Wake Forest University and St. Louis University. In 2002, he returned to Turkey and started working in the Department of Economics of Bilkent University. His research and teaching areas are applied monetary economics/macroeconomics, and econometric theory. Dr. Yigit’s academic papers have been published in European Economic Review, Economics of Transition, Journal of International Money and Finance, Economics Letters, and Journal of Comparative Economics. He received the Bergson prize for the best paper published in Comparative Economic Studies during 2009 and 2010. He became an Associate Professor in 2012. Besides his academic contributions, he has served as the Director of Graduate Studies and Associate Chair at his department between 2003-2008.
