The Department of Economics is dedicated to contributing to the field of Economics through cutting-edge research, that goes hand-in-hand with provision of high quality economics education to both undergraduates and graduates. The research fields of the 22 full-time faculty members that lead the field in Turkey as well as internationally span all the major fields of economics, microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics. The department hosts several faculty members with both research and teaching awards as well as research projects supported by TUBITAK.
The Department of Economics has very strong international links both in its research and teaching activities. Two international seminar series held regularly on a weekly basis continues to strengthen these research ties. Through a growing list of partners Bilkent students are offered the privilege of choosing from among a set of very prestigious higher education institutions that are partners in Erasmus or other exchange programs as well as the opportunity of hosting many exchange students.
The Department offers a B.A. degree that is based on very strong foundations while allowing students the flexibility that ensures a specialized education in accordance with their needs and skills. The Department also offers a Minor program that attracts much interest from throughout the campus. The graduate programs are designed to train students towards independent research. Three graduate degree programs offer a M.A. or a Ph.D. degree, as well as a Dual M.A. degree jointly with Tilburg University.
